A family-owned business in the heart of the Bulb Region
Our family business in Voorhout
Three generations of Jansze
De Tulperij is located in Voorhout, right in the heart of the Bulb Region. We, Daan and Anja Jansze, have been living and working here happily for many years. Daan was born and raised in Voorhout.
Anja moved there when she was fifteen and has felt completely at home ever since. Together, we run De Tulperij; we’ve been married for over 28 years and now have three wonderful children: Sanne, Joost, and Tijn. All three of them now work in the business.
Sanne enjoys contributing ideas on styling, manages De Tulperij’s social media account, and helps out in the restaurant when needed. Joost handles marketing and steps in during busy periods. Tijn loves being outdoors, drives the tractor, and helps with planting and harvesting the flower bulbs.
This is how De Tulperij remains a true family business, where everyone does their part.
Our children are real go-getters who enjoy working with people.
You are very welcome at our family business!
The love of flower bulbs runs in the family
Grandpa Adriaan Jansze
Adriaan Jansze began growing tulips in 1927 on a plot of land he inherited from his father. Later, Daan’s father took over the business and expanded it to include daffodils and hyacinths.
Daan worked alongside his father for many years, until he took over the business entirely. As Voorhout grew, the old business eventually made way for residential homes, but his passion for flowers remained and lives on at De Tulperij, where he now works alongside Anja.

Sustainable and committed
Our contribution to a better world
At De Tulperij, we believe it is important to contribute to a better world. The environment, people, and society are our top priorities. Whenever possible, we conduct our business in a sustainable and socially responsible manner.
Accessible to Everyone
We want everyone to be able to enjoy the beautiful flowers, including those with limited mobility. Thanks to the Handy-Care Foundation, we have two wheelchairs available that are specially designed for participating in community activities. This helps us make our business accessible and welcoming to everyone.
Biodiversity and Bees
Without biodiversity, there is no future. Bees play a vital role in this. We collaborate with beekeeper Marei. She has set up several beehives near our farm. The bees provide pollination and delicious honey, which you can purchase in our store. Every year, we plant summer flowers in our garden (the seeds of which are also available in our store), creating a paradise for bees and butterflies.
Energy and Green Manure
We save energy by replacing fluorescent lighting with LED and generate our own electricity using 144 solar panels. Any excess power we don’t use is fed back into the grid. In addition, we use cover crops such as Japanese oats, marigolds, and phacelia. These crops protect the soil, improve its structure, and provide a healthy foundation for the next growing season.
Collaborating and Sharing
Our machines aren’t in use all year round. That’s why we also share and lease them to fellow business owners. This way, we make the most of our resources and avoid waste.
Socially Responsible
Since De Tulperij was founded, we have been partnering with a day activity center where people enjoy baking our apple pies and Monchou cakes.
In addition, we use fair-trade products, so that everyone receives a fair price for their work.
Together, we make sure that your visit to the Tulperij is truly enjoyable.
You’re welcome here seven days a week!
